Indonesia explores creative industry cooperation with Hollywood

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government is discussing potential creative industry cooperation agreements with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce (HCC), an organization representing over 600 members in the entertainment industry.
The discussion took place during the 4th Indonesia-US Digital Technology Forum: Creative Economy, held in Los Angeles, United States, from October 5 to 8.
According to a press release received in Jakarta on Saturday, the forum brought together an Indonesian delegation led by Foreign Ministry Director General for American and European Affairs Grata Endah Werdaningtyas and Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Ron Frierson.
The meeting addressed various areas of potential cooperation, including talent development, co-production, and a creative industry cooperation agreement (MoU) between the HCC and Indonesia.
Werdaningtyas stated that Indonesia views Los Angeles as a unique platform for strengthening cooperation in the creative economy.
"We hope that closer ties with Los Angeles will open opportunities for Indonesian creative talent, intellectual property, and creative industry players to connect with global networks," she said.
Meanwhile, Ron Frierson said the HCC was honored to welcome the Indonesian delegation for productive discussions. He noted that both Indonesia and Hollywood share an extraordinary spirit of creativity and entrepreneurship.
"We hope to transform this relationship into a meaningful partnership across entertainment, tourism, and business sectors, one that benefits our members and strengthens ties between our communities," he said.
The HCC also manages the intellectual property rights for iconic Los Angeles landmarks, namely the Hollywood Sign and the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Furthermore, the forum, facilitated by the Indonesian Consulate General in Los Angeles, brought the Indonesian delegation together with Los Angeles Deputy Mayor Dilpreet Sidhu to discuss talent development in the fields of film, animation, music, and gaming.
Jakarta and Los Angeles have maintained a sister-city relationship since 1991.
The Indonesian delegation also held meetings with Warner Bros. Discovery, William Morris Endeavor (WME), the Los Angeles AI community, the University of Southern California, and the Indonesian creative diaspora community in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas.
