The Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise is entering a brand-new era, with Netflix's live-action adaptation recently releasing its second season and its third and final chapter already finished filming ahead of a 2027 release. The animated side of the franchise is expanding as well, with Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender officially debuting on Paramount+ in July and the upcoming Avatar: Seven Havens set to introduce an entirely new generation of characters when it premieres on October 9.

Beyond television, Avatar also recently expanded into gaming with the release of Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, a fast-paced 2D fighter that brings together characters from Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, and the franchise's expanded universe. However, Avatar fans are poised to get an even more exciting update with the announcement of The Living Typhoon, available this Wednesday, September 16 (via Avatar RC).

Avatar: Realms Collide is expanding its roster with another major character from the franchise's extended universe, as Kelsang, the Living Typhoon, joins the game as a new Legendary Hero on September 16. The Air Nomad was a close friend and companion of Avatar Kuruk before becoming an important mentor and father figure to Kyoshi, with his immense airbending ability earning him his famous nickname.

In Realms Collide, Kelsang specializes in high ATK and strengthening Airbender units, making him particularly useful for players building an Air-focused troop. His abilities include:

  • Gust — Rage Skill: Deals up to 3,000 base damage and increases the squad's ATK by 30% for three seconds.
  • Vortex — Passive: Increases squad ATK by up to 40%, while normal attacks generate Rage for Kelsang.
  • Gentle Giant — Passive: Increases maximum bender capacity by 10%, while his Rage Skill can boost squad DEF by 25%.
  • Living Typhoon — Passive: Increases the ATK of all Airbenders in the troop by 50% and their DEF by 15%.
  • Weight of Legend — Awakening: Deals 4,300 base damage and boosts the squad's ATK by 50% for three seconds.

Kelsang will also headline a new Greatest Leader event for eligible older servers. The same update introduces fellow Kyoshi-era Legendary Hero Rangi and the Dear Fellow Lotus event, with an even larger update planned for September 30.

Avatar: Realms Collide is a free-to-play 4X strategy game in which players build cities, gather resources, recruit heroes, and compete in PvE, PvP, and alliance warfare. It is currently available on iOS, Android, and PC/Windows, and comes highly recommended among fans of the franchise.
