Standard Group Appoints New Substantive Group CEO

Standard Group PLC has appointed Dr. Naim Bilal Yaseen as its substantive Group Chief Executive Officer, effective Sunday, November 1, 2026.

The board of directors confirmed the appointment on Thursday, October 29, following a competitive recruitment process.

“Following the conclusion of a competitive recruitment process, the Board of Directors of The Standard Group PLC (TSG) has appointed Dr Naim Bilal Yaseen, PhD, to the position, effective 1st November 2026,” the company statement read.

Dr. Bilal’s appointment formalizes his leadership role at the media house, where he has been serving in an acting capacity following the exit of former CEO Chaacha Mwita earlier in October. Mwita stepped down just seven months into his tenure as substantive CEO, with the company opting not to disclose the reasons for his resignation.

Bringing over three decades of experience spanning media management, public service, corporate governance, and strategic communications, Dr. Bilal takes the helm as Standard Group navigates restructuring and market realignments across its media platforms.
