BIG CHANCE! Liverpool 0-0 Nottingham Forest

Ohhhhhh...

That is so, so close to an opener for Notingham Forest, I really thought that was in.

James McAtee sends a beautiful ball to the back post and Dan Ndoye gets on the end of it.

But he can only head it wide.

'Another big day for Isak'

Ian Ladyman at Anfield:

An open game so far and further signs of hesitation from Alexander Isak. I was at Newcastle last Sunday and wrote that the Liverpool striker looks as though he has almost forgotten how to trust his instincts.

Well here has so far he has been outmuscled by Forest centre half Jair Cunha after Virgil van Dijk tried to release him down the left and has misplaced an awful weak pass when Liverpool were trying to build a quick counter. Feels like another big day for the Swede.

BIG BLOCK! Liverpool 0-0 Nottingham Forest

Well, this isn't exactly the start Andoni Iraola will have wanted to see.

Energy has been the buzzword about this new Liverpool but we aren't seeing any of it here.

They look even slower than they did at Newcastle, and are barely doing anything moving forward.

It's all Nottingham Forest, and as I say that Igor Jesus has another effort blocked.

GREAT TACKLE! Liverpool 0-0 Nottingham Forest

What. A. Move.

Nottingham Forest should be ahead, but that is sensational from Jeremy Jacquet at the back.

Ola Aina whips the ball to the back stick, it's nodded back across to Igor Jesues and you think he is going to score.

But Jacquet gets there first with an incredible tackle.

That is brilliant from Jair Cunha.

One long ball looks like it has sent Alexander Isak away; he is turning those legs and chasing the ball.

But Cunha has done brilliantly to put off Isak, before allowing the ball through to Matz Sels.

CHANCE! Liverpool 0-0 Nottingham Forest

What a pass, wow.

Alexis Mac Allister pretty much surprsies every single soul inside of Anfield, including Cody Gakpo, as he splits Nottingham Forest open.

Gakpo isn't expecting it, I don't think, and he takes a touch rather than shooting and wastes the chance.

But that pass has woken this crowd up, pure class.

Liverpool 0-0 Nottingham Forest

What is that?

I was about to praise Liverpool for a lovely move, as Florian Wirtz plays one hell of a reverse pass to slide in Jeremie Frimpong.

But Frimpong's cross at the end of it all, my word... it's absolutely shocking.

You can see why Reds fans aren't too fond of the full-back after that.

Liverpool 0-0 Nottingham Forest

Hmmmm...

I was not expecting to see this.

Cody Gakpo has switched to the right-hand side to allow Victor Munoz to take up the left flank.

I can't ever remember seeing Gakpo on the right, so this should be interesting.

KICK-OFF: Liverpool 0-0 Nottingham Forest

Now it's Anfield's turn to pay a tribute to Kevin Keegan. You'll Never Walk Alone bleeds into the start of it, which is just beautiful.

There is then a moment's applause as a mosaic which shows the words 'Kevin 7' in the Kop is displayed.

'One Kevin Keegan' is the chant before a huge roar erupts.

Another beautiful tribute before the players take to their positions, and we get underway.

That Anfield roar

I'm interested to see what kind of atmosphere we get at Anfield today.

You just never know anymore; it can either be incredible or as quiet as a library on a Monday morning.

There is a nice little roar as the players emerge from the tunnel and into the rain, but remember this is a lunchtime kick-off so they might not keep these noise levels up.

Well, unless there is an early goal...

Anyway, now it's time for the first You'll Never Walk Alone of the season before kick-off. Always love listening to it.

Can Liverpool end winless run?

Liverpool are not on a good run in the Premier League.

Yes, I know it's only been one game this season, but if you factor in the end of last campaign, it's been a long time since they have picked up three points in this league.

Liverpool are winless in five Premier League matches, drawing three of those and losing two. Their longest run without a win came between May and September 2012.

They will be desperate for that to end today.

'Liverpool have got a good one in Iraola'

Steven Gerrard, former Liverpool midfielder, on TNT Sports:

It was an exciting day for me to meet him. I thought his answers were very detailed; he was very humble. This is a coach that is desperate to get his ideas and philosphy across to this group as quick as he possibly can. I think Liverpool have got a good one here.
