Foundation provides borehole to boost rural water access

The Lolhaz Foundation for Children and Women has provided a borehole to improve access to clean and safe drinking water in Ago-Dongo, a rural community in Kurudu, Abuja.

The intervention is part of the foundation’s initiatives aimed at supporting women and children, including access to education, welfare and empowerment.

The organisation also carries out orientation programmes against child molestation and abuse, provides academic scholarships for less privileged children and empowers widows.

The Founder, Mrs Omolola Falohun, leads the initiatives alongside her team, according to a statement on Thursday.

According to the foundation, residents of Ago-Dongo previously faced difficulties accessing clean drinking water, forcing many families to depend on contaminated and unsafe sources.

It said the situation raised concerns about the health and well-being of women, children and other members of the community, while accessing safer water remained a daily challenge.

As part of the intervention, the foundation installed a borehole to provide the community with a more reliable source of clean water for drinking and other essential household needs.

The foundation said the completed project had improved residents’ access to water and reduced their dependence on unsafe sources.

It added that improved access to water could support healthier living conditions and reduce the time women and children spent dealing with difficulties associated with finding usable water.

According to the foundation, the project was intended to provide a practical and community-focused response to the water challenges faced by residents of Ago-Dongo.

The foundation said it remained committed to initiatives aimed at providing women and children with access to basic necessities that support a healthy and productive life.

It said the borehole project marked an important milestone for the organisation and the beneficiary community. The foundation added that its initiatives were focused on identifying the needs of vulnerable communities and taking practical steps to address them.

Lolhaz Foundation for Children and Women focuses on the welfare and empowerment of women and children, with a particular emphasis on ensuring every child has access to education, regardless of culture, tribe, or religion.
