Selena Gomez has a warning for anyone thinking about trying a vape. In her recent Instagram stories, the singer shared that she wishes she had never picked up the habit. The singer revealed that frequent nicotine vaping changed her voice's sound.

Although she has now stopped, she admitted quitting was far from easy.Speaking directly to her followers, she was unusually candid about her past nicotine use and the impact she believes it had on her voice.“I'm not gonna be able to change my voice. I vaped nicotine a lot,” she said. The singer went on to explain why she wanted to speak about it, particularly to people who are already vaping or considering starting.“Nicotine is so hard to quit, and I think I just wanted to say, if you're going through it or if you're even trying to vape, it's just not worth it,” she added.

Selena did not try to make light of the habit itself. Instead, she admitted that she regretted it, adding that vaping had changed her voice.

Selena Gomez says quitting vaping has been 'really hard'

Despite the seriousness of her admission, Selena brought some humour into the conversation. She acknowledged that people might not like how her voice sounds now and joked that they could simply stop listening if it bothered them. But her message about quitting was more personal.

Selena said she had stopped vaping and was hopeful she could keep it that way.“I'm really excited because I stopped and I just hope I can keep it up,” she said, acknowledging how difficult the process had been. She also offered encouragement to anyone dealing with a similar struggle, telling followers that they could get through it too.

When Selena Gomez spoke about her voice in 2025

This is not the first time Selena Gomez has addressed questions about why her voice sounds different.

During an Instagram Live session on December 16, 2025, she responded to fans who had repeatedly raised the subject. At the time, she said her throat sometimes swelled internally. She did not mention vaping during that conversation. Her latest comments add new context to the discussion, but Selena has not shared a medical assessment confirming the cause or extent of the changes. She also has not said how long she vaped nicotine or when she quit.

For now, the message she wants people to take away is simple: nicotine can be difficult to give up, and she hopes others will think carefully before starting.
