The Senate impeachment court is scheduled to proceed with cross-examining witnesses and submitting evidence regarding Vice President Sara Duterte's alleged corporate connections and undisclosed assets on Tuesday, September 29.

Davao City Mayor Sebastian "Baste" Duterte is expected to make his first appearance before the impeachment court following the subpoena issued to him.

Baste's subpoena covers September 28 to 30. However, he requested to push back his appearance in order to prepare.

The Senate impeachment court is currently hearing Article 2 of the Articles of Impeachment, which charges the Vice President with acquiring unexplained assets.

The allegations center on inaccurate and incomplete disclosures in her and her spouse’s SALNs from 2022 through 2024, alongside a deliberate failure to divest from her ongoing business operations between 2022 and 2025.

Baste is expected to speak about Gencorp Industries, Inc., a firm linked to his sister based on her Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net worth (SALN).

But the Davao City mayor already denied that he was aware of his sister's alleged connection to the company.

With Baste's scheduled appearance before the impeachment court, there's no word yet on whether the vice president will also finally attend her trial.

Her defense earlier said that it's up to her whether she will attend following the subpoena issued to her brother. —LDF, GMA News
