The Nigeria Revenue Service has disowned a recruitment notice circulating online in the name of the defunct Federal Inland Revenue Service,

In a public notice titled “Fraudulent Recruitment Notice” posted on its official X.com page on Monday, the NRS said its attention had been drawn to a notice headlined “Federal Inland Revenue Service – FIRS Job Vacancy – Replacement,” which has been circulating on social media and other platforms.

According to the Service, the notice purportedly advertises employment opportunities within the agency and directs applicants to submit information to the email address [email protected].

“The NRS wishes to state categorically that the notice is fraudulent and did not emanate from the Nigeria Revenue Service,” the agency said.

It reminded the public that the FIRS had been succeeded by the NRS.

“Accordingly, any purported recruitment notice issued in the name of FIRS should be treated with caution and independently verified,” the Service stated.

The NRS added that it had not authorised any recruitment exercise.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the NRS has not authorised or commenced the recruitment exercise referenced in the notice and has not appointed or authorised any individual, agent, consultant or third party to conduct any recruitment exercise on its behalf,” the notice read.

The agency advised members of the public to disregard the notice and be careful when responding to recruitment-related messages and links.

“Any legitimate recruitment exercise undertaken by the Nigeria Revenue Service will be formally communicated through the Service’s official website and authorised communication channels.”

It urged Nigerians to verify any recruitment-related information through these channels before taking any action.
