Blue Lights season 4 cast tease "big stunts" and dramatic action scenes in upcoming episodes

Hit police drama Blue Lights is returning to the BBC this autumn, and star Nathan Braniff has teased that season 4 will be the show's best run yet.

Braniff, who plays Tommy Foster, was speaking exclusively with Radio Times alongside co-star Neil Keery, who plays McCloskey, on the red carpet for the National Television Awards 2026.

When asked to tease season 4, Braniff said: "Definitely it’s gonna be the best one yet. It's much more the same of the things that everybody loves about Blue Lights. And my character Tommy, for example, he's working out his relationship, and it's all a bit chaotic."

Meanwhile Keery said he was going to keep his character's storyline "a secret", but teased that there's "quite a lot of action this year."

"That’s right," Braniff added. "There was lots of big stunts, like pyrotechnics and flipping craziness."

We currently know little about the storyline for Blue Lights season 4, but it seems likely that it will pick up on a number of threads from season 3, and the two runs were confirmed and written at the same time.

We do also know that there will be returns for a number of characters who have been absent of late, in a flashback episode which is said to "answer important questions from the past".

Returning characters include Gerry Cliff, as played by Richard Dormer as Gerry Cliff, who was killed off in season 1. Jen Robinson, as played by Hannah McClean, and disgraced former Inspector, Jonty, as played by Jonathan Harden will also be back.

Of course, the show's lead cast will also be back, including Siân Brooke as Grace Ellis, Martin McCann as Stevie Neil and Katherine Devlin as Annie Conlon.

Rounding out the cast, along with Braniff and Keery, are Frank Blake as Shane, Joanne Crawford as Helen, Andi Osho as Sandra, Abigail McGibbon as Tina, Dearbháile McKinney as Aisling, Andrea Irvine as Nicola, Cathy Tyson as Dana Morgan and Michael Smiley as Paul ‘Colly’ Collins.

Blue Lights season 4 will air on BBC One and iPlayer this autumn.
