Nintendo Switch 2 Gamers Can Officially Grab A 10/10 RPG Completely Free Right Now

It is hard to believe that it has already been a year since the Nintendo Switch 2 launched, and with some incredible exclusive games already under its belt, not to mention the upcoming launch of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake, it is safe to say that the latest Nintendo handheld has been a hit.

So, what if I told you that you could play the brand-new The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered on the Nintendo Switch 2 for absolutely free? Even if you have never owned it previously.

Launching earlier this month, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered offers exactly what it says on the tin: an enhanced version of 2015's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, welcoming improved visuals and rendering, gameplay, UI and UX, accessibility, quality-of-life, and much more.

Since its launch, the remastered version of this hit RPG is already breaking records, and as well as launching on GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and XBOX Series X/S as a free upgrade for those who already own a copy of the original title, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered also launched on the Nintendo Switch 2.

What we do know, is that for those who already own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on the Nintendo Switch, a free upgrade for the Nintendo Switch 2 will be available, much like on other platforms. However, as well as being possible courtesy of a digital download, it will also work with a physical cartridge.

As such, thanks to SwitchPlayed on YouTube, there is a way to play The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered on the Nintendo Switch 2 for free. As the Switch 2 only needs access to the cartridge once, you can simply borrow a friend's or even a copy from the library, and insert it into your handheld. Then, make sure that you have updated The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered to its latest version, Ver. 4.04d.

Once in game, head to the bottom of the main menu and the option 'AVAILABLE NOW ON NINTENDO SWITCH 2' should be available. Simply click on it and you are done. You now have access to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered on the Nintendo Switch 2 for absolutely free, but as our YouTuber explains, it is probably best to do this quickly as there is no doubt that Nintendo will soon patch this out.

However, as the top comment on the YouTube video reads, "This won’t be patched. There’s no other way to do it if you want the people who have the physical cart to be able to upgrade, which you do. Same sort of deal for Skyrim and Hogwarts Legacy, you don’t need the cart."

So, it remains to be seen if this neat little trick will stick around, but what we do know, is that Nintendo Switch 2 fans are definitely the winners when it comes to the launch of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered.
