The Mummy 4 ups the stakes in intense scenes.
The Mummy franchise spans nearly a century of horror, classic monster cinema, and blockbuster action-adventure films. From 1932, the classic monster took many shapes and names until the Brendan Fraser trilogy from 1999 to 2008. The first two movies, The Mummy and The Mummy Returns, were directed by Stephen Sommers and were both major successes. However, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor seemingly failed to launch, leading to a major overhaul and a resurrection.
New set videos of Fraser and Rachel Weisz on The Mummy 4 in Morocco show an intense scene where a group of men kidnaps Weisz during a wild car chase. The video shows a speeding car with men on top, seemingly Fraser's stunt double and potentially Michael Johnston's mysterious character, yet to be confirmed. The production has moved from London to Morocco, with set photos and videos circulating on social media of the cast beginning a whole new adventure.

Weisz portrayed the character Evelyn Carnahan in 1999's The Mummy and 2001's The Mummy Returns. The character Evelyn is captured not once but twice in both movies within the franchise. In The Mummy, Evelyn is captured by Imhotep's cultists to be used as a human sacrifice, and in The Mummy Returns, the character is captured once again by the cult of Imhotep. It appears, The Mummy: Book of the Dead is very much keeping that tradition alive.
It was also recently reported that a new lead has been cast in The Mummy: Book of the Dead in a mysterious role. The Egyptian actress, known for The Blue Elephant 2, Tara Emad, has also joined the upcoming revival. Emad joins Fraser, Weisz, Johnston, and John Hannah. Filmmaking duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known as Radio Silence, have taken on the sequel 25 years in the making after it was confirmed the 2008 flop Tomb of the Dragon Emperor was not canon to the main franchise.
