Pas: Viral candidate list for Melaka polls not official

Translate

MELAKA: A list of Pas candidates for four state seats in the upcoming state election that went viral on social media is not official, the party said.

Melaka Pas said its circulation could confuse the public.

It said the circulation of the list could confuse the public and clarified that several social media pages carrying party-related content, including TV Pas Melaka and Melaka Kini, are not under the supervision or management of the state party leadership.

The party also reminded its members and supporters not to use the pages as official sources of reference to avoid confusion and the spread of inaccurate information.

"The public is advised not to believe or spread unverified information," it said in a statement.

Meanwhile, former Bukit Katil seat candidate Mohammad Al Hafiz Yahya, when contacted, said he was also unaware of the list and had not received any confirmation regarding his candidacy.

He said any decision on the candidates would have to await a decision by Pas central leadership and that he did not want to pre-empt any official party announcement.

"So far, there has been no confirmation and I myself do not know where the source of the information came from.

Earlier, a Facebook post went viral featuring a list of candidates proposed by Pas to contest four state seats in the Melaka election.

It claimed that Zulhilmi Suboh or Nor Faizal Nordin had been nominated to contest for the Bemban seat, Al Hafiz Yahya for Bukit Katil, a candidate from the Melaka Pas Youth Council for Ayer Keroh and Bakri Jamaluddin for Paya Rumput.
