Police have issued a CCTV appeal to trace two men after a teenage girl was “sexually touched” on Brighton beach.

The girl was sat with a friend on the beach near the bottom of West Street in Brighton on 23 June when she was approached by the two men, according to Sussex Police. The men then sat with them before the pair went into the water, the force said in a statement.

Sussex Police said the girl was later allegedly touched over her clothes while in the water. The incident was later reported to police, who have now issued CCTV images of two men they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

“Police are investigating a report that a teenage girl was sexually touched over clothing on Brighton beach, in an area near to the bottom of West Street,” Sussex Police said.

“The incident was reported to have happened in the late afternoon/ early evening on 23 June. The men were alleged to have approached the victim and her friend a short time earlier and sat with them on the beach before the offence took place in the water.

“Officers would now like to speak with the two men in the images in connection with further enquiries.

“If you recognise them, or have any information to report, contact police online, or by calling 101 quoting reference 1694 of 23/06.”
