Translate

The Zamfara State Government had validated the 2027–2029 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) with a view to enhancing budget credibility and planning.

The state Ministry of Budget and Planning, in collaboration with the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) Programme, revealed this after a one-day Validation Workshop in Kaduna.

The workshop brought together members of the State House of Assembly, representatives of MDAs, and other key stakeholders to review and validate the draft framework.

The exercise demonstrated the commitment of the Zamfara State Government under the leadership of Governor Dauda Lawal to strengthening fiscal discipline, transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public resources.

The MTEF serves as a strategic framework for aligning medium-term revenue projections with expenditure priorities and ensuring efficient allocation of scarce resources.

Speaking at the workshop, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Prof. Y. A. Zakari, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Sani Abubakar Bukkuyum, emphasised the importance of ensuring that the 2027–2029 MTEF is credible, realistic, participatory, and aligned with the Administration’s Rescue Agenda.

The workshop reviewed key areas including revenue projections, expenditure ceilings, fiscal assumptions, sectoral priorities, fiscal sustainability, and the linkage between the MTEF and the annual budget process.

In his remarks, Speaker Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki highlighted that the participation of members of the State House of Assembly in the workshop provides an important opportunity to strengthen Executive–Legislative collaboration and ownership of the State’s fiscal and budgetary framework.
