RON97, unsubsidised RON95 prices down 30 sen, diesel drops 10 sen

KUALA LUMPUR: The retail prices of RON97 and unsubsidised RON95 will fall by 30 sen per litre, while unsubsidised diesel will drop by 10 sen per litre from tomorrow until Oct 28.

RON97 will retail at RM4.80 per litre, unsubsidised RON95 at RM4.32 and unsubsidised diesel at RM5.07.

In a statement, the Finance Ministry said that although Brent crude oil prices remained above US$100 (RM408.20) per barrel, regional prices of refined petroleum products had begun to ease during the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) calculation period.

It said the decline was driven by expectations of increased supply from China, supported by continued production from other Asian countries.

"Persistently high crude oil prices reflect the risk of supply disruptions amid ongoing geopolitical conflicts.

"In the medium term, global petroleum prices are expected to remain volatile," the statement said.

The ministry said the government would continue to protect the public and businesses from the impact of global uncertainties.

It said the government was expected to spend RM40 billion on fuel subsidies next year, as announced in Budget 2027, to support economic growth and safeguard people's livelihoods.

At current prices, eligible Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) recipients will continue to pay RM1.99 per litre, compared with the unsubsidised RON95 price of RM4.32.

"This means the government bears a subsidy of RM2.33 per litre, equivalent to 54 per cent of the unsubsidised price.

"Eligible Budi Madani Diesel (Budi Diesel) recipients will continue to pay RM2.10 per litre, compared with the unsubsidised diesel price of RM5.07, with the government providing a subsidy of RM2.97 per litre, or 59 per cent of the unsubsidised price," the statement said.

The ministry said subsidised fuel prices would remain unchanged, with RON95 under Budi95 at RM1.99 per litre, diesel under Budi Diesel at RM2.10, the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) at RM2.05 and the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) at RM2.15.

It added that through Budi95 and Budi Diesel, eligible Malaysians could continue to purchase subsidised RON95 and diesel using their MyKad, subject to monthly eligibility limits.
