Inde Navarrette Suits Up As Rogue With Marvel Rivalry Nod For X-Men Reboot In New MCU Art

Jeff Dodge (he/him), a published author and graduate of Western Washington University, has been a TV news editor for many years and has had the chance to interview multiple reality show stars, including Randy Jackson, Nick Cannon, Heidi Klum, Mel B and John Cena. Fun Fact: he’s been to every single Idol Live! Tour.
Now that Inde Navarrette has officially joined the cast of the upcoming X-Men film, more fan art has started to surface, including one that pays tribute to Rogue's rivalry with another Marvel character.
Marvel made a big splash at Disney's recent D23 event by formally introducing the MCU's X-Men cast, including Navarrette (as Rogue) Sadie Sink (who made her debut as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day), Samara Weaving (Emma Frost), Kit Conner (Cyclops), Christopher Abbott (Professor X) and Maya Boyd (Storm), with Adam Driver as the villain, Mr. Sinister.
Following this major casting announcement, Kode Abdo on Instagram shared fan art depicting Navarrette as Rogue flying while clenching her left fist. Over her yellow and green suit, she's wearing a brown jacket.
An Instagram Story confirmed that it's Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel's bomber jacket, a nod to a comic book storyline in which Rogue absorbed her power of flight. Check out the fan art below:
In his caption, the artist added a quote that said, "Careful, sugah. One touch is all it takes," referring to the fact that Rogue can take another superhero's powers and memories, like she did with Captain Marvel in the comics.
Navarrette's casting marks Rogue's debut in the MCU. Before Disney acquired 20th Century Fox (now called 20th Century Studios), the character had appeared in X-Men, X2: X-Men United, X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past. During that era of the X-Men franchise, Rogue was played by Anna Paquin.
The character has also been seen in animated form in TV shows like X-Men: The Animated Series, Spider-Man: The Animated Series, X-Men: Evolution, Wolverine and the X-Men and the current Disney+ series X-Men '97, which recently released its second-season finale.
Before joining the cast of X-Men, Navarrette had already been having a very successful 2026 after starring in the hit horror film Obsession, which is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a score of 94% and grossed $495 million at the box office. Her performance earned her a Critics' Choice Super Award for Best Actress in a Horror Movie.
On the small screen, Navarrette starred on Netflix's 13 Reasons Why as Estela de la Cruz and played Sarah Cortez on The CW's Superman & Lois.
Aside from X-Men, she's also been cast in an upcoming thriller called Invertigo, which was filmed this year but doesn't have a release date.
In the weeks leading up to the D23 announcement, there had been a lot of speculation about Navarrette possibly joining the MCU's X-Men.
The actress herself revealed that she had met with director Jake Schreier but didn't give details about their meeting. She also publicly expressed a desire to play Mystique, a role that has not been confirmed yet for the upcoming film.
X-Men will be released in theaters on Friday, May 5, 2028.
