Vincent Kompany, Bayern Munich manager, collapsed after a training session in Munich on Friday. He was immediately taken to the hospital by an ambulance, as reported by Sky Sports Germany.
On Wednesday, before the Champions League match against Arsenal, he had complained off a pain in his leg and hip that could be due to a virus.
Bayern’s assistant coach Aaron Danks, who had taken the pre-match press conference instead of Kompany, said, “It’s just a virus. The doctors, the experts, know way more than I do.
“The most important thing we’ve just encouraged is that he rests, he takes the time he needs, whatever that may be, however long that may be. Whether that’s tomorrow or whether that’s two, three days, I don’t know at this moment. Getting Vince to rest is a challenge.”
Kompany, who took the bench for the match against RB Leipzig, was subdued and remained seated on Saturday. According to Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl, the manager needed to be helped up the stairs and had been suffering from the virus.
