Bulacan’s Singkaban cultural fest proceeds despite monsoon

CITY OF MALOLOS—Rains did not dampen this year’s 29th celebration of the Sining Kalinangan ng Bulacan (Singkaban) as the province’s delicacies, agricultural products and its traditional skills were put on display on Tuesday (September 8).

This happened in a trade fair and a parade of floats during the kickoff ceremonies of this weeklong event. 

A unique gateway made of bamboo adorned the Singkaban Trade Fair which was officially opened at the Bulacan Capitol Grounds despite the midday showers.The fest was led by Gov. Daniel Fernando, Vice Gov. Alexis Castro, with Provincial Administrator Antonette Constantino and Jayric L. Amil, head of the Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office (PCEDO).

A brass band played in the background of the trade fair which run until Friday (Sept. 11).

One of the highlights was a float parade.

Nine competing floats from Bulacan local governments and 14 non-competing floats representing corporations and other government agencies rolled out to depict the historical and cultural traits of Bulacan.

The parade traversed the streets from the City of Malolos Sports Complex to the Capitol Grounds. 

According to Limuel Jan Lobederio, head of the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office (PHACTO), the participating floats also ferried the candidates for Hari at Reyna ng Singkaban 2026.

Winning floats will be recognized during the awarding ceremony on September 14. /apl
