Louis Theroux, 56, reveals he's been doing Joe Wicks' exercise plan daily but says he loves boozing and used to enjoy 'a nightly spliff'

He's become somewhat of an unlikely sex symbol and celebrity crush and is regarded as one of Britain's best broadcasters.
And now Louis Theroux has revealed the secret to keeping in shape as he revealed he has been doing Joe Wicks' exercise plan every day.
The journalist, 56, teased that he looks better with his clothes off as he opened up about how he stays healthy on the latest episode of Katherine Ryan's podcast What's My Age Again.
Chatting to the comedian, she asked what he does to stay young as he replied: 'I do exercise fairly regularly.
'I do, a kind of daily, you've heard of the fitness influencer Joe Wicks? So, it sounds odd when I say I do Joe Wicks.'
'That'll keep you very healthy, very active,' joked Katherine.
Louis continued: 'Yeah but basically every day I do Joe Wicks, I do. I literally do him.

'And I have the app and I don't know if it makes that much of a difference. Like, obviously, I think it does.'
He added: 'I think I look a little better with my clothes off. Try and get that picture out of your head.'
However Louis isn't completely committed to the healthy lifestyle as he admitted he still loves a drink and even enjoys the hangovers.
He explained: 'I like the first drink, and then I like the second and the third drink and the fourth. And then I like, being drunk, and then I like going to bed a bit drunk, and then I like, quite like waking up feeling groggy.
'And then I quite like working out and then kind of through the day feeling better?'
'Okay. So, it's like another mini war for you. Another little challenge,' teased Katherine.
'A resurrection', replied Louis: 'Yeah. It is a bit like a war. You're like, "Oh I'm dying". And then you come back, you're like, "oh, I'm alive".'
He also used to enjoy a 'nightly spliff' as he reflected on his previous smoking habits.
'I was like 1 or 2 cigarettes at parties and a nightly spliff through my late teens and 20s.'
He added: 'It was a sleep aid... I would just have like one spliff a night just to help me sleep.....Well sometimes a bit more.'

Can a daily fitness routine really balance out drinking and past drug habits for a healthy lifestyle?
Louis proved his loyalty to the Joe Wicks workouts after he previously shared a shirtless snap in 2021 after sweating through the exercises during lockdown.
The documentarian revealed that he completed a gruelling Joe Wicks 15-minute workout after deciding to focus on his 'physical and mental health'.
The filmmaker showcased his toned torso as he promoted the importance of putting time aside to take care of yourself.
Louis penned: 'As the future looks uncertain again it’s important to look after your physical and mental health. I just did the Joe Wicks 15 minute Bondi Beach workout on YouTube and I already feel a million times better. Take care of yourselves.'
A year later he teamed up with Joe once again to complete his ice bath challenge as Louis stripped down to his shorts before jumping into the bath of ice in Joe's back garden.
Joe challenged Louis to stay in the bath for a full minute, while instructing him to take deep breaths.
Louis managed to hold his own for the full minute, even going so far as to dunk his head under the icy water.
Louis then jumped out when he couldn't take the cold any longer, and Joe taught him some exercises to 'bring heat back to the body naturally'.
The pair then did another workout together, this time fully clothed and inside, with Joe revealing Louis does his workouts five days a week.
Joe shared the whole challenge on his Instagram Stories for his followers, hilariously adding Daniel Bedingfield's Gotta Get Thru This over the top, and writing: 'I gotta get Theroux this'.
