Coronation Street airs reveal of devastating Christina Boyd secret in early ITVX release
Christina Boyd's (Amy Robbins) biggest secret has been revealed in Coronation Street.
Her first day as assistant funeral director didn't go without a hitch in today's episode. She was enjoying some breakfast with housemate Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) in Roy's Rolls when colleague Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) charged in and demanded to know why she hadn't turned up for work.
She was half an hour late, and had to quickly sup her cuppa before going to polish the windscreen of a hearse. Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) and Lucy Parkinson (Anya Dewin) approached, with the teen making a barbed comment about the fact Christina was pulling.
Christina chastised Lucy for her attitude, only for George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) to announce that they were customers.
As viewers know, Lucy's mum Rachel was killed last month. Her dad Richie (Nathan Sussex) has been held in prison awaiting trial for the murder, after Tim found the body on the kitchen floor.
A rather telling phone call earlier this week revealed that Lucy may have played a part in the death. After she lashed out at Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor), the youngster tearfully told her father that she was worried she would do the same to Sally as she did to her mum.
Did Lucy kill Rachel?
Later, after George showed Christina how to access the undertakers' database, she accessed Rachel's file. Looking at the death certificate, the floor suddenly fell from beneath her feet.
Christina then went to the Rovers to drown her sorrows and, after offending Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger), was steered home. George wanted to know why she was so upset and reliant on alcohol, to which his partner produced a locket containing a picture of a baby.
He assumed that it was her daughter Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan), though she explained that the child was Rachel – her daughter.
Why did Christina not raise her, were they estranged, and why didn't she realise Lucy was her granddaughter?
There are a lot of questions, and hopefully we shouldn't have to wait too long to find out the answers.
