Gaza administration committee signs MoU with German agency to promote reconstruction framework
The National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday to establish a framework for cooperation on the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
The MoU outlines the framework for cooperation as consisting of GIZ providing technical expertise and specialized consultations to the NCAG's Planning and Implementation Unit for the purpose of enabling Gaza's economic and municipal recovery.
The signatories of the MoU were Dr. Ali Shaath, General Commissioner of the NCAG, and Dr. Alexander Zuliga, Country Director of the GIZ.
At the signing ceremony, Shaath thanked Germany and the GIZ for their support and emphasized the importance of international partnership in enabling the NCAG to fulfill its mission of rebuilding Gaza.
Also in attendance at the signing ceremony were Board of Peace Director-General Nickolay Mladenov; Martin Maute-Keiter, Head of Development Cooperation at the German Representative Office in Ramallah; Valerie Koppelle-El-Naji, Foreign Affairs Advisor at the German Embassy in Cairo; and the commissioners of the NCAG.
Israel bars international military outpost construction in Gaza
This comes after The Guardian reported on Wednesday that Israel has yet to allow the construction of a military outpost for international troops in the Gaza Strip, according to a source familiar with the matter.
The outpost was the subject of the first construction contract issued in Gaza by US President Donald Trump's Board of Peace in August 2026. However, two months later, the source said Israel still hasn't allowed the project to move forward.
“Israel won’t open the border,” the source said, adding that contractors and trucks have been prevented from entering Gaza to begin construction.
