Laura Bailey and Ian Alexander join ‘The Last of Us’ season 3 cast

Fans of the beloved video game have been glued to the edge of their seats over news of the third season of the live-action series, ‘The Last of Us.' The release is slated for sometime in 2027, while new cast members are slowly being added for the new storyline.

According to recent reports, voice actors who starred in the ‘The Last of Us’ video game and lent their voices to some of the well-known characters are joining the official cast of the live-action series.

Entertainment Weekly reported that actress Laura Bailey, who lent her voice to Abby in ‘The Last of Us’ game, has officially joined the live-action series’ upcoming season. She brought the character to life and even worked on motion capture to help structure the character.

Other than her, according to reports shared online, star Ian Alexander is also joining the live-action show. He voiced and performed motion capture for the character Lev in the video game ‘The Last of Us Part II.

’While Bailey played Abby’s role in the game, she will be playing a character called Elizabeth in the upcoming season. Her character is described as one of the main leaders of the Seraphites, the religious sect at war with the militarised WLF (Washington Liberation Front). Ian will play Paco, who is part of a friendly duo calling themselves the “Heroes of the Highway.” They will be joining Kaitlyn Dever, who plays the main role of Abby Anderson, along with John Goodman, who will be playing the role of Joey, the second half of “Heroes of the Highway.”

While talking about the show and how it feels to come back, Bailey expressed that she is really excited. As for her opinions on passing the torch to Dever for Abby’s character, Bailey added, “She’s just phenomenal; every moment that I saw that she was in, I just loved how much she brought to the character and made it her own. It’s kind of like watching your child get up and start walking for the first time. Once you put it out there, it’s somebody else's, and she’s just embraced it.

”Some of the other new cast members include Peter Sarsgaard, Clea Duvall, and Jason Ritter. While not much is known about the coming season of the post-apocalyptic show, it is said to be centered mainly around Abby’s point of view.
