Pakistan calls for implementing “Mecca Agreement” to safeguard Saudi security amid Houthi attacks

Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif affirmed that the time has come to implement the “Mecca Agreement,” amid escalating tensions and attacks launched by the Houthis toward the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

During statements to the local Pakistani channel Geo News, Asif emphasized his country’s commitment to Saudi Arabia’s security and the protection of holy sites, stressing that Pakistan does not need a formal treaty to fulfill its responsibility toward safeguarding the sanctities, as Islamabad considers it a binding “duty.”

Diplomatic channels and messages to Tehran

Asif confirmed that Pakistan will continue its diplomatic efforts to contain the escalation and prevent the conflict from spreading to new fronts, underscoring the importance of maintaining regional stability. The Pakistani Defense Minister also revealed that his country relayed a Saudi message to Iran, which detailed growing concerns regarding the attacks carried out by the Houthi group.
