Trump Crashes Out After Democrats Flip House and Senate, Slams Fox News and Texas’ Greg Abbott
After Democrats flipped the U.S. House and Senate on Tuesday night, it’s safe to say President Donald Trump wasn’t too thrilled.
Hours after the polls closed and it was revealed that Democrats won some surprising races in the 2026 midterms, including for the Texas, South Carolina and North Carolina Senate, Trump took to Truth Social hours after the polls closed with several posts, slamming Fox News and Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who lost re-election to Democrat Gina Hinojosa.
“If Greg Abbott, the Governor of Texas, hadn’t become a RINO in the last six months of his Political Life, he wouldn’t have lost,” he wrote in one post. “He went back to his original formula, and it wasn’t pretty!”
Trump added in another, “Why does FoxNews have Bill de Blasio, the Worst Mayor in the History of New York City, on air, ranting and raving like a Lunatic? He left the City in disgrace, and the damage he caused was incalculable — It has never been the same, and now he’s telling us how to run America. FoxNews bears responsibility for these losses by constantly and consistently putting on the Dumocrat opposition, and worse. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
Along with posting a photo of his signature red caps, with the word “VETO” displayed on it, he also wrote, “I’m going to become a Political Pundit, both good and bad, on the reasons these Candidates won and lost!”
Earlier in the evening, as it started to become clear that it was going to be a big night for Democrats, Trump initially claimed that he would have won in a landslide if his name was on the ballot. “I wasn’t on the Ballot and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE! Thank you for your attention to this matter,” he wrote on Truth Social.
However, Trump wasn’t eligible to be on the 2026 ballot as he’s currently the sitting president of the United States. He also can’t run again in 2028, as the 22nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution limits any person to being elected to the presidency twice, and Trump was already elected in 2016 and 2024.
While Trump appears furious at the midterm results, he also told The New York Times shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday that he’s “absolutely willing to accept” them.
The president added to the Times, “We’ll work with the Democrats, and we’ll, you know, look forward to working with them. We’ll probably work something out.”
