Nashville SC set a new single-season MLS points record after reaching 77 points with its win over FC Cincinnati on the final day of the regular season on Saturday.
Nashville went into its finale tied with Inter Miami's historic tally of 74 points, set in the its first full season with with Argentina star Lionel Messi in 2024.
Top scorer Sam Surridge made sure of topping Miami's mark with his 20th and 21st goals of the season in the second half to give Nashville a 2-0 victory.
As well as points, Nashville also set a record for fewest goals conceded in an MLS season, at just 25 in its 34 games. The 2020 expansion team never suffered back-to-back losses in all competitions, across MLS, the Leagues Cup and Concacaf Champions Cup.
