‘It’s About A Battle Of Will’ — Joshua Promises All-Out Aggression Against Fury On Dec 11

Translate

Two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has sounded a fierce warning ahead of his long-awaited showdown against arch-rival Tyson Fury, scheduled for December 11 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

With the vacant WBA “super” heavyweight title hanging in the balance, both fighters have promised explosive stoppages. However, Joshua made it clear that his game plan relies on much more than raw power alone, pointing to his tactical maturity and ring IQ as the ultimate weapons for the historic clash.

Reflecting on his grueling journey back to the top, which included surviving two terrifying opening-round knockdowns before stopping Kristian Prenga in July, Joshua in a chat with The Ring’s Mike Coppinger, admitted that high-stakes heavyweight battles often demand deep emotional and physical resilience:

“It’s about a battle of will,” Joshua told The Ring’s Mike Coppinger. “There are things I’m going to work on in the gym… but sometimes the night just unveils things that are unexpected, and I just have to dig deep to make it an exciting fight while it lasts.”

Dismissing the notion that he is merely a heavy-handed brawler, Joshua emphasized his technical depth: “People can be distracted by the way I look, by the way my abs are chiseled, and my biceps are pumping, but if you look beyond that, you’ll see someone who has a boxing brain and a level of IQ that has led me to become a two-time heavyweight champion of the world.”

While acknowledging that Fury is vastly experienced against elite punchers, Joshua believes his own exceptional distance-judging, counterpunching ability, and tactical anticipation will make for an unforgettable night under the lights in Cardiff.
