Protecting state wealth will always face resistance, Prabowo says

Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto said the Forest Area Enforcement Task Force (Satgas PKH) will face heavy challenges in carrying out its duty to safeguard state wealth from parties engaged in fraud.
He said government efforts to bring order to the management of state wealth often face resistance from parties who have long benefited from corruption and fraud.
"I understand and I know that the challenges you face are not light," Prabowo said when giving directives at the phase 8 handover of administrative fines and forest area land at the Attorney General's Office here on Tuesday.
According to him, similar resistance also arises when the government seeks to eradicate various forms of crime, such as corruption, smuggling, narcotics distribution, fraud, and practices that harm state wealth.
"Every time Indonesia's national leaders want to fight corruption, every time elements of leadership in this nation want to fight smuggling, fight the spread of narcotics, fight fraud, fight the plundering of state wealth," he mentioned.
He added that each time this occurs, the nation's leaders face resistance that is not easy.
Prabowo said parties who benefit from such practices hold power, so efforts to restore order do not always go smoothly.
However, Prabowo stressed that the conflict between those who want to uphold the truth and those who defend their own interests is a challenge that has always existed in history.
He further underlined the importance of courage in taking a stand when facing such challenges. Prabowo asked the task force's members to keep choosing efforts that are on the path of truth and justice.
"The choice is ours. Do we dare to choose the path of truth, or do we surrender to greedy forces, forces that are not loyal to this nation," Prabowo asserted.
The Head of State assessed that Indonesia has vast natural wealth, so its management must be directed toward the interests of the public and the state.
"(There are) forces that insult the people, forces that keep Indonesia poor. Yet we are a very rich country," he said.
