LUDHIANA: Two days after returning from Australia, a man allegedly stabbed his wife to death at their house in Vikas Nagar on Pakhowal Road. Police said the man suspected his wife of infidelity and stabbed her multiple times in the stomach and neck with a kitchen knife.
Before committing the murder, the man sent their son to the market to get milk. The victim was identified as Kamaldeep Kaur, 49, and the accused as her husband, Ravinder Singh, 50, who works as a pick-up van driver. Dugri police have apprehended the accused. The incident occurred late Saturday when the couple was at home with their elder son, Gagandeep Singh. Their younger son lives in Australia, and the couple had gone there to meet him.
While Kamaldeep had returned about four months ago, Ravinder returned to India two days ago.Gagandeep said that his parents had been behaving normally for the past two days and had not fought. Late Saturday, his father asked him to get milk from the market. He left the house and, on returning, saw his father running out of the house. When he asked what had happened, his father told him to go inside and check.Gagandeep rushed inside and saw his mother lying on the bed in a pool of blood.
He raised an alarm and sought help from neighbours to rush his mother to the hospital. The woman was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead.Inspector Gurmukh Singh, SHO of Dugri police station, said, "The accused used a kitchen knife to stab his wife to death. He attacked her in the stomach and neck multiple times. The police suspect that the man had returned to India with a plan to kill his wife as he executed the murder two days after his return."
The inspector added that a murder case had been registered against the accused, who had been taken into custody. Initial investigations suggest that suspicion of infidelity was the motive behind the murder. The accused is being interrogated.
