Months after OSM row, government appoints new CBSE chairperson

NEW DELHI: Senior bureaucrat Mandeep K Bhandari was appointed CBSE chairperson, months after the rollout of On-Screen Marking (OSM)-based evaluation and post-result processes triggered complaints over alleged answer-sheet mix-ups, portal glitches, payment failures and delays in re-evaluation.Bhandari, a 2001-batch IAS officer of AGMUT cadre, is currently principal secretary to J&K lieutenant governor. The appointments committee of the Cabinet approved his appointment, personnel department said. His was among 10 transfers and postings effected by govt Friday.On June 2, govt removed CBSE chairperson Rahul Singh and secretary Himanshu Gupta and ordered an inquiry into procurement of the digital evaluation system.In other postings, Vipin Kumar, AAI chairperson, was appointed additional secretary, rural development. Anand Singh will be additional secretary, economic affairs department.
