‘We are not getting a platform’: ‘Drones’ producer Satheesh makes an emotional plea for more theatres as the Tamil horror-fantasy comedy struggles for shows after ‘Jailer 2’

Theatre access has become a major challenge for the team behind ‘Drones’, a Tamil horror-fantasy comedy that arrived in cinemas amid stiff competition. Despite appreciation from the audiences who have watched it, the film has struggled to secure enough screens and shows to reach a wider audience.

Creative producer Satheesh has now made an emotional appeal about the difficulties the team faces, saying that limited theatrical opportunities have affected their chance to prove the film’s worth.

‘Drones’ producer makes emotional statement about theatre shortage

Directed by Raghav Mirdath, ‘Drones’ released on October 16, a day after Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer 2’. The film features Dravid of ‘Parithabangal’ fame, Siddhi Idnani, Anjali Nair, Devadarshini and Qureshi in key roles, with Satheesh credited as creative producer.

Speaking at the film’s press meet, Satheesh said the team had spent the past week approaching theatre owners in the hope of securing more shows. He expressed disappointment over the lack of screens despite positive feedback from those who watched the film.“We have made a good film with young talents, and everyone who has watched it has appreciated it. But there has not been a single day in the past week when we have not pleaded with theatre owners.

We are not getting a platform. How can we show our talent if we do not get one?” he said emotionally.

‘Drones’ enters second week with limited shows

Despite the difficulties, Satheesh said ‘Drones’ has entered its second week in theatres. According to the producer, the film managed to make young audiences laugh, but the limited number of screens and shows prevented it from reaching more viewers. In some theatres, the film reportedly received only a single show a day, making it difficult to build momentum during its opening week.

The team is now hoping for better support from exhibitors as the theatrical run continues.

‘Drones’ faces tough competition after ‘Jailer 2’ release

The film’s release alongside ‘Jailer 2’ put it in a challenging position, as Rajinikanth’s action sequel attracted significant demand for screens. Satheesh also expressed concern about theatre availability in the coming week, with new releases adding to the competition. Although some viewers have praised ‘Drones’, its box-office performance depends on getting more shows in theatres. The team hopes more people will get a chance to watch the film.
