Gusau Begs FIFA To Save NFF From Sacking By Nigerian Government

Translate

The Ibrahim Musa Gusau led board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has written to world football governing body FIFA to stop plans by the Nigerian government to sack them, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

As widely reported yesterday, the Nigerian government has given the National Sports Commission (NSC) the go ahead to set up an interim committee to manage Nigerian football, and halt the planned election into the NFF.

The decision was reached after the women’s team for the first time in history failed to qualify for the Women’s World Cup on Thursday.

It was a case of one failure too many coming on the heels of the Super Eagles also failing to qualify for the world cup. The situation led to the marching order given to the NSC to sack the NFF and set up a management team for Nigerian football for the next three months.

Gusau who was looking ahead to coasting to a win that will give him another four years in office, in the elections in September has now written to FIFA citing government interference, which will possibly trigger a ban for Nigeria.

However the NSC has perfected how to go about the idea of firing the board that will not contravene FIFA’s stand on interference, and they have already told the Gusau led board to humbly resign or be forced out of office.
