Coronation Street airs aftermath of Jodie Ramsey shooting and David Platt decision in early ITVX release

Jodie Ramsey has survived the shooting in Coronation Street, which will come as no surprise to viewers who know that actress Olivia Frances Brown has recently signed a new contract.

But where does that leave the character now?

Well, today's episode provided a few answers. After her torment of sister Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) and plans to seduce brother-in-law David (Jack P Shepherd) were revealed, the couple began to turf Jodie out of the house.

They stumbled across her trinket box which included, amongst other random items, DS Lisa Connor-Swain's (Vicky Myers) police badge and gun. Jodie insisted that it was a replica firearm, but in a scuffle with Shona, accidentally shot herself.

In the latest instalment, which can be streamed now on ITVX, David quickly called emergency services and asked for an ambulance.

Blood was pouring out of Jodie's stomach, and when the call handler asked how she was injured, he was forced to think on his feet. Shona watched on, dealt a worried look, and David said that they'd heard the gunshot and ran in to find Jodie alone.

After Lisa received news of the shooting, she rushed home and ordered the locals to stay out of the way. David and Shona kept the pretence that they had no idea how Jodie had found herself in such a predicament, and followed her to the hospital.

Upon arrival, Shona asked her husband what he'd done with the gun, as her fingerprints would be present on it. He said that it had been dumped in the bottom of the canal, and they didn't need to worry about it.

Later, as Jodie came round in hospital, she realised that her family hadn't told the police that she was the one who owned the firearm.

Although it seems like she's managed to get away with it, could there be further consequences?
