Indonesia records Rp140.7 trillion in foreign capital inflows

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia recorded Rp140.7 trillion (approximately US$7.9 billion) in foreign capital inflows as of September 14, 2026, marking a positive rebound after experiencing capital flight in previous months, according to Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara.

"While we were seeing capital outflows a few months ago, recently we have seen inflows begin," Minister Suahasil stated during the ANTARA Business Forum in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He explained that the foreign capital accumulated through investments in government securities (SBN) and Bank Indonesia rupiah securities (SRBI).

"As of September 14, the accumulated capital inflow stood at Rp140.7 trillion via SBN and SRBI," he said.

Suahasil noted that the influx of funds indicates growing confidence among global investors regarding Indonesia's economic outlook despite heightened international financial turbulence.

"This is a matter of macroeconomic management that we must safeguard," the minister emphasized.

To bolster the resilience of the State Budget, the Finance Ministry has prepared three primary fiscal strategies.

First, optimizing state revenue collection and raising the tax ratio by broadening the tax base, boosting taxpayer compliance, and ensuring the smooth rollout of the Coretax administration system while adapting to digital economy developments.

Second, enhancing spending quality through tighter budget efficiency, targeted allocations, as well as improved fiscal policy harmonization between central and regional governments.

Third, adopting innovative financing strategies to maintain fiscal stability while supporting an expansionary state budget.

"We are rolling out various forms of more innovative financing to help maintain the health of the State Budget," Suahasil concluded.
