New York City Marathon 2026 breaks record for most finishers, first with 60,000+
New York City Marathon organizers said that Sunday's race was the first marathon to exceed 60,000 finishers.
The 55th New York City Marathon had 61,146 finishers out of its 61,529 starters, breaking the record for most finishers for a marathon for a third consecutive year, according to the New York Road Runners.

The previous record was 59,830 finishers set by the 2026 London Marathon this past April.
In 2025, the New York Road Runners reported that the New York City Marathon had 59,226 finishers, breaking the record set by the 2025 London Marathon of 56,640.
In 2024, the New York City number was 55,646, breaking the record that the 2024 Berlin Marathon set at 54,280.
