Invincible Officially Returns Winter 2026

Translate

Jared is a writer, editor, and Communications Studies graduate who loves popular nerd culture (almost anything to do with Marvel, DC, Star Wars, or The Lord of the Rings) and the interactive storytelling medium. Jared's first console was the PS1, wherein he fell for Spider-Man, Spyro the Dragon, and Crash Bandicoot.

Like The Boys, Invincible is popularly known for its TV series adaptation and the fact that it tells a story about superheroes, though it’s hardly a ‘superhero story’ in the traditional sense, and it relishes in its ability to distinguish itself with graphic content. It’s a spoof on classic superhero stories, sure, but the charm of Invincible’s worldbuilding and characters is where it truly shines amid the mature language and dark humor that’ll pique your interest.

Invincible Season 5 is reportedly slated to premiere in 2027. Until then, though, fans are about to enjoy Season 2 of Invincible VS, a 3v3 tag fighting game adaptation of the Invincible universe, and it even has its own original campaign story. Plus, this holiday season, Invincible VS is officially adding a long-awaited character who is more than vaguely familiar to Marvel fans.

Agent Spider crawls up a wall in Invincible

As per Twitter/X, Invincible VS announced that Agent Spider, Invincible’s legally distinct Spider-Man, will be added to the fighting game’s roster this winter. This means he won’t be available as a playable roster character until Season 3, but it’s great to hear that he’s a confirmed roster character in Invincible’s post-launch DLC, and winter 2026 is only a couple of months from now, anyway.

Agent Spider is largely an interesting character due to the obvious crossover of Marvel’s Spider-Man, who has already met Mark Grayson’s Invincible in a Marvel Team-Up crossover comic from Image. Moreover, Agent Spider is voiced by Josh Keaton, who voices the character in the animated series and famously plays Spider-Man in numerous projects, including the beloved Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon and the underrated video game Spider-Man: Edge of Time.

According to Invincible VS’ DLC roadmap, Agent Spider will be released in December, alongside new cosmetics, a new arena, quality-of-life updates, and a new Ranked season. Of course, Angstrom Levy arrives in Invincible VS today, though the Agent Spider announcement might’ve robbed him of his thunder a little bit. For the last little while, Invincible VS’ marketing on social media has been sharing gameplay and tips for how to play Angstrom Levy when he is released, and fans can likely expect the same sort of promotional material for Agent Spider when the Invincible character launches in December.

There are still a ton of iconic Invincible characters that fans can’t wait to see get adapted into Invincible VS. Funny enough, players will soon have a competent equivalent to Spider-Man to lab, and only time will tell if he’ll be as good as Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls’ Spider-Man. Agent Spider was probably one of the fighting game’s most highly anticipated Invincible characters, and it’ll be neat to see what competitive, high-level players think of him, much less who he might best be paired with in a 3v3 team composition.
