Johnny Depp is well known for his on-screen prowess in films like ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,' ‘Pirates of the Caribbean,' ‘Edward Scissorhands,' and many others. However, did you know that he has also dabbled in music? In 2012, Depp, along with Alice Cooper and Joe Perry, started their own rock music supergroup, the Hollywood Vampires.

Depp recently opened up about his music background in a clip from the documentary ‘Unleashed Spirits: The Rise of the Hollywood Vampires,' which chronicles the group’s journey from just starting out to gaining international fame.

ComingSoon.net recently released footage from the documentary ‘Unleashed Spirits: The Rise of the Hollywood Vampires.' In the clip, Depp opened up about writing songs, specifically touching upon writing ‘This Is a Song’ for Miss Hedy Lamarr.

He shared, “It’s about if the inspiration hits, if the words pop into your head, how much time do you have before they fall out?” Depp also admitted that he always keeps a notebook on him since he is completely unaware of when the inspiration may strike again.The clip also featured scenes from 2018, when the star was working in his music studio late at night. He was also filmed playing the piano late into the night, as Tony Henrikson, another band member, narrated in the background, explaining Depp’s creative process.

The documentary on the Hollywood Vampires was directed by Daniel E. Catullo III, who has previously worked on making concert films like ‘Foo Fighters: Live at the Acropolis,' ‘Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris,' and ‘Alicia Keys: The Girl From Hell’s Kitchen,' to name a few.‘Unleashed Spirits: The Rise of the Hollywood Vampires’ had its first premiere at the 42nd Boston Film Festival earlier this year in September.

It will now have its West Coast debut at the 27th Newport Beach Film Festival on October 22.As for Depp, he will next be seen in the much-anticipated film, 'Ebenezer,' where he will play a grumpy old businessman obsessed with money and being on his own. However, he is later visited by the ghost of his former business partner, who then tells him to change his ways and warns him that three ghosts will visit to show him glimpses of the past, the present, and the future.
