Temperatures across Egypt to drop following humidity as Autumn begins

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) revealed its weather forecast and temperature projections for the coming hours, announcing the onset of weather fluctuations alongside chances of rainfall across several governorates.

Unstable conditions will begin over several northern regions, according to weather maps, stretching from the Mediterranean coast to parts of the Nile Delta.

Despite the persistence of relatively hot and humid conditions, cold air currents in the upper atmosphere will collide with warm, humid air, generating a brief and localized state of instability.

The atmosphere will remain humid due to rain-bearing clouds forming over the region, heightening the feeling of heat.

Once this brief weather system passes, temperatures are expected to drop noticeably starting Friday and Saturday.

Rainfall map: Scattered thunderstorms expected Thursday

Regarding the rainfall map, random thunderclouds are expected to form starting early Thursday morning over the northwestern coast (from Matrouh to Alexandria).

By afternoon and late afternoon, convective thunderclouds will build, penetrating and expanding over the Delta governorates—namely Beheira, Monufiya, Sharqiya, Gharbiya, and Daqahliya—in addition to Kafr El-Sheikh, Damietta, and Port Said.

Rainfall across these areas is expected to be scattered.

The EMA outlines autumn 2026 forecast

The EMA outlined the expected weather features for the 2026 autumn season, which begins on Wednesday and will last for three months.

The Director-General of the Forecasting and Early Warning Center at the EMA, Mahmoud Shaheen, told Al-Masry Al-Youm that potential weather fluctuations are expected, as autumn weather maps shift rapidly according to changes in atmospheric pressure patterns and distributions.

Light to moderate rainfall is anticipated, with thunderclouds potentially developing over scattered areas of the northwestern coast and the Nile Delta, with some rain potentially reaching Greater Cairo.

The EMA confirmed that seasonal forecasts suggest rainfall amounts and temperatures during this autumn may be slightly above average climatic norms.
