Geoffrey Mosiria Says One Term Is Enough to Fix Nairobi as He Eyes Governor Seat

Translate

Nairobi County Chief Officer for Customer Engagement and Citizen Service Geoffrey Mosiria has declared that he needs only one term as governor to transform the capital, promising to prioritise service delivery over political survival.

In a post shared on Instagram on Monday, October 12, 2026, Mosiria said his focus would be on fixing Nairobi’s systems and implementing development plans that he believes previous administrations failed to complete fully.

“The time to fix Nairobi is now!” he declared, arguing that the city needs a leader committed to delivering results rather than immediately planning for re-election.

Mosiria, who has branded himself “Mr Fix It”, is positioning himself as a candidate capable of addressing Nairobi’s persistent challenges ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Mosiria Outlines His Plan for Nairobi

The county official said he intends to build on the manifestos of previous governors, arguing that several proposed development projects and reforms were never fully implemented.

He has also indicated that he would draw lessons from the current administration led by Governor Johnson Sakaja, under whom he serves as a chief officer.

Mosiria believes his experience working across different county departments has equipped him with the skills required to lead Nairobi.

He has previously pointed to his work in health, environment and customer service as evidence of his understanding of the challenges facing residents and the county government.

His current responsibilities have also brought him into contact with residents seeking assistance, including women and children experiencing difficult circumstances.

Mosiria says he hopes to use the experience gained from these roles to improve service delivery across the capital if elected governor.

His one-term pledge signals an attempt to distinguish himself from politicians who seek successive terms in office, although the success of his proposed reforms would ultimately depend on their implementation.

Mosiria Declares 2027 Gubernatorial Ambition

Mosiria has formally expressed interest in succeeding Sakaja, who won the Nairobi governorship in the 2022 General Election.

He reiterated his ambitions during a church service at Jesus Is Alive Ministries on Sunday, October 11, 2026, where he presented himself as a leader capable of bringing change to the capital.

During the visit, Mosiria also proposed church founder Bishop Margaret Wanjiru as a possible running mate in his gubernatorial bid.

However, no formal agreement between the two had been announced at the time of his remarks.

His declaration places him among the politicians seeking to contest the Nairobi governor’s seat in 2027, setting the stage for a potentially competitive race.

Mosiria Hits Out at Online Critics

Beyond his political ambitions, Mosiria used his latest post to criticise bloggers whom he accused of being paid to attack him online because of his work supporting women and children.

He said he was prepared to face criticism but urged political leaders to respect the women and children he claims to have helped through his public service.

“Ni uchungu sana viongozi fulani hawapendi kuona nafanya kazi ya kusaidia kina mama, warembo na watoto,” he wrote.

The county official has increasingly highlighted his interventions involving vulnerable residents as part of his public profile, presenting the work as evidence of his commitment to service.

As the 2027 election approaches, Mosiria is seeking to turn that profile into a broader political campaign built around fixing Nairobi’s problems within a single term.
