Vivienne Jolie legally drops her father Brad Pitt’s surname

Vivienne Jolie has officially dropped her father Brad Pitt's surname legally and will now go by Vivienne Marcheline Jolie.

Following in her siblings' footsteps Vivienne, has now officially become the fourth of Angelina Jolie's children to legally drop her father Brad Pitt's surname.Just weeks after siblings Zahara Marley Jolie and Maddox Chivan Jolie, whose legal name change appeal was approved in September, Vivienne has now legally dropped Pitt from her surname and will now go by the name, 'Vivienne Marcheline Jolie'.

Vivienne Jolie drops Brad Pitt’s surname legally

According to reports shared online by Page Six, a California judge approved the name change appeal during Monday’s hearing. She had earlier applied to legally change her name in mid-July, shortly after turning 18 on July 12.While she was only recently granted the legal right to change her name and drop the ‘F1’ star’s surname, she has been identifying as Vivienne Jolie since 2024. The change was first reported after her name had been listed without the combination of ‘Jolie-Pitt’ in the official playbill for the Broadway production ‘The Outsiders’ in May 2024.

She was listed as a producer and had joined the production to provide assistance to her mother.That same year, Shiloh Jolie had become the first Jolie-Pitt sibling out of the six, to legally drop her father’s name after her appeal was granted in August 2024.As of right now, her twin, Knox, has also reportedly dropped the Pitt name, since he was only listed as Knox Jolie on his high school graduation diploma in June 2026, though a formal legal name change has not been officially confirmed.

Pax is the only sibling who still publicly uses the Jolie-Pitt surname, though he has previously expressed public criticism of his father.

The pair first met while they were filming the action-comedy film, ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith.’ At the time, Pitt had been married to ‘Friends’ star Jennifer Anniston. He and Aniston filed for divorce in the beginning of 2005, which was made official in March 2005. In April, Jolie and Pitt were spotted together in Kenya with her son, Maddox. The two were together for over a decade, had and adopted six children, before getting hitched in August 2014.

They separated two years later, in September 2016, leading to a long divorce and custody battle. Their divorce was officially finalised in December 2024.
