Michael Wilson wore a yellow non-contact jersey at Wednesday's practice, adding another injury concern to an Arizona receiving corps already missing Jalen Brooks. Wilson was limited with sore ribs after Sunday's loss to Denver, though he told reporters the decision to avoid contact was a precaution.
The Cardinals head to Dallas this weekend with Wilson and Kendrick Bourne leading a group that has changed considerably this month. Marvin Harrison Jr. has been traded, Brooks' season is over, and veteran Zay Jones has returned to the practice squad.
Wilson Practices After Ribs Trouble Against Denver
Wilson told Arizona Sports' Tyler Drake that his ribs were sore coming out of the Broncos game and that wearing the jersey was him being smart. Arizona's subsequent injury report listed the ribs issue, clearing up the uncertainty from the portion of practice open to reporters.
There was no game designation Wednesday. Wilson has Thursday and Friday practices remaining before the Cardinals make their final injury decisions for Sunday. He caught four passes for 55 yards on eight targets in the 30-16 loss to Denver and added 11 rushing yards on two carries. His season totals stand at 37 catches for 375 yards and a touchdown.
Mike LaFleur had defended Wilson's work earlier in the week, pointing to routes that created separation even when they did not produce catches. Against Denver, the coach highlighted a double move that drew a holding penalty from Riley Moss.
“He's running good routes and he's separating,” LaFleur said. The coach wanted more from those opportunities, too. Drawing a flag helped Arizona, but LaFleur believed the play could have ended in a touchdown.
Brooks' Absence Leaves Arizona Short At Receiver
Brooks dislocated his wrist in the first quarter against Denver and continued playing. He underwent emergency surgery Monday, ending his season and leaving Arizona without another option outside.
The Cardinals signed Jones to their practice squad Wednesday. He played for Arizona in 2024 and 2025, catching 12 passes in eight games last season before an Achilles injury ended his year.
Jones could be elevated for Dallas if needed. Simi Fehoko and rookie Reggie Virgil remain on the active roster behind Wilson and Bourne, while Harrison Wallace III and Shedrick Jackson are also on the practice squad. Arizona has concerns elsewhere on offense. Right tackle Elijah Wilkinson missed Wednesday's practice with a knee injury, right guard Jon Gaines II sat out with an ankle problem, and running back Tyler Allgeier was absent with a toe injury.
