Bersatu should just quit PN, says Tuan Ibrahim

Perikatan Nasional (PN) deputy chairman Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said Bersatu should just withdraw from the coalition after its president, Muhyiddin Yassin, questioned plans to take disciplinary action against the party.
Muhyiddin asked yesterday why disciplinary action should be taken against Bersatu given that it had not violated any rules. He also said it was his party that had reported alleged violations by PAS in PN to the Registrar of Societies (RoS).
Tuan Ibrahim, who is also PAS deputy president, said Muhyiddin had answered his own question.
“The answer (to Muhyiddin’s question) is already in his remarks. Bersatu does not need to try to dissolve PN or take all sorts of actions to weaken the coalition.
“It would be better for Bersatu to withdraw from PN. They were the ones who lodged a complaint with the RoS, but now they are the ones expressing sadness when the RoS deregistered PN,” he was quoted as saying by Berita Harian.
The High Court on Thursday stayed the RoS’s decision to deregister PN pending the full disposal of the coalition’s judicial review against the authority.
Muhyiddin had said the RoS’s move to deregister PN was evidence of wrongdoing on the coalition’s part, while Bersatu had adhered to the rules by reporting the matter to the registrar.
Tuan Ibrahim said the proposed disciplinary action against Bersatu had been referred to PN’s supreme council for deliberation and a decision on the appropriate action to take.
PN secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said on Sunday that disciplinary action would be taken against Bersatu for violating the PN constitution, including by contesting against the coalition in the Negeri Sembilan election.
He said PN would scrutinise several of Bersatu’s actions that allegedly went against the coalition’s interests before finalising the charges against the party.
