KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 — The proposed Health Services Commission, overcrowding at government hospitals and measures to strengthen disaster risk mapping in Malaysia are among the issues scheduled to be raised in the Dewan Rakyat today.

According to the Order Paper published on Parliament’s website, Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa (PH-Sekijang) will ask the Health Minister to state the ministry’s commitment to tabling the proposed Health Services Commission Bill for first reading before the end of 2027, in line with the reform aspirations outlined in the 2023 Health White Paper.

Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (PH-Port Dickson) will seek an explanation from the Health Minister on persistent overcrowding at emergency departments, including average patient waiting times and concrete measures to ease congestion and ensure patients receive timely treatment.

Also on the agenda is a question from Datuk Verdon Bahanda (Independent-Kudat), who will ask the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister about measures to strengthen disaster risk mapping in Malaysia and how the latest risk data is being used to improve early warning systems, development planning and disaster preparedness.

Meanwhile, Tan Kok Wai (PH-Cheras) will ask the Investment, Trade and Industry Minister to provide the total number and a detailed list of projects realised from Geely’s US$10 billion investment commitment in Tanjung Malim.

Khairil Nizam Khirudin (PN-Jerantut) will seek clarification from the Transport Minister on the postponement of the enforcement of Speed Limitation Device (SLD) installation requirements and the government’s assessment of a proposal to re-establish the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD).

During the Minister’s Question Time, Syahredzan Johan (PH-Bangi) will ask the Prime Minister to explain the rationale behind involving government departments, government-linked investment companies (GLICs), government-linked companies (GLCs) and statutory bodies in the implementation of development projects.

Datuk Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh (PN-Besut) will also ask the Prime Minister to outline the formula and criteria used by the government to determine the allocation of constituency development funds (CDF) to Members of Parliament. — Bernama
