Gideon Ochanda Says Ruto Is Restoring Nyanza’s Place in National Leadership

Translate

Former Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda Ogolla has praised President William Ruto’s engagement with the Luo community, saying it is helping restore the region’s influence in national governance and decision-making.

In a statement titled Reintegrating Nyanza into National Leadership and Community Decisiveness, Ochanda argued that the region had experienced political isolation for an extended period but was now reclaiming its place in national leadership through engagement with the government.

He said the process did not require the community to abandon its identity or dignity, but rather to pursue partnerships that would secure its interests and strengthen its representation.

Ochanda further claimed that while national political leaders continued to negotiate alliances and navigate high-level political discussions, grassroots residents had already made up their minds to support closer cooperation with the national government.

He argued that rigid political positions in the past had contributed to the region’s exclusion from key national decisions, adding that communities were now prioritising development, economic transformation and sustainable political representation.
