Iran supreme leader says midterms results will not reverse US’ “hostility” towards Tehran

Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei stated that anyone who believes the midterm results will shift Washington’s stance on Tehran is “deeply mistaken.”

“Anyone who still clings to even a slim hope that the system of domination might change its behavior or undergo party and factional shifts, or who believes that concessions to US could turn it away from its hostility toward the Iranian nation, is deeply mistaken,” Khamenei was quoted as saying by the Iranian state-backed outlet, IRNA.

The Supreme Leader has not been seen in public since he was appointed in late February, after US-Israeli strikes killed his father and predecessor earlier this year.

The US-Israeli joint war in Iran became a focal point of campaigns in the run up to the midterms – after regional violence this year spiked gas and diesel prices for millions of families across the world, including in the US.
