Red Dead Redemption 2 might be coming up on a decade in the wild over the next couple of years, but it's still going strong for many players who continue to log in to the world that Rockstar built. That said, it's a well-known point that the developer failed to bring us any single-player DLC, and most of us have likely done everything there is to offer in the story mode.
Happily, Red Dead Online is still being diligently updated every month with a series of exciting events, almost all of which have worthwhile rewards on offer. October has proven to be no exception, and we're now very much in the middle of the spooky season, though time is running out if you want to get involved in the action.
Over on the official Rockstar website, the developer has broken down their latest event for Red Dead Online, which leans heavily into the Halloween theme. There's a lot going on as part of the event, but the section you'll really want to pay attention to (as it's so time-sensitive), reads as follows:
“Sell Wildlife Samples to Harriet Davenport to get 3X RDO$, Role XP, and XP — as well as earning a Reward for a Free Coat by selling one Wildlife Sample between October 6–12. Also, get your hands dirty completing any Blood Money Contract from October 20–26 to receive a Reward for a Free Weapon.”
Outside of that, you’re also just about in time for the final two weeks of the Featured Series for this month. Those are currently paying out 3X RDO$ and XP, with the remaining events including:
- October 20–26: Hardcore Halloween Series 1
- October 27–November 2: Hardcore Halloween Series 2
In even better news, for the fashion conscious among you, the new Community-Inspired Outfit is also now available to collect for free. To do so, you can either assemble it from the pages of the Catalogue, or head to a tailor that participates in the event. The list of items you need to get to complete the set includes:
- Worn Flop Hat
- Leather Duster
- Laborer Overshirt (Female) or Lautnip Shirt (Male)
- Leather Pants
- Military Half Chaps
- Leather Gloves
- Bandana
- Worn Roper Boots
At the same time, you can also try to complete Strange Tales of the West, four creepy Telegram Missions that pay out 4X RDO$, Gold, and XP if you get them done before November 2.
November 2 is also the magical date when all the Halloween-themed fun will go away for another year, including all of the rewards associated with the event. Just make sure to get in before then if you don't want to miss out.
Red Dead Online may well remain our only way to create new experiences in the franchise for some time, as the future of the series remains up in the air. With the original intention being that it was only ever meant to be two games, don't be surprised if that is where it stays for a long time.
