Travel chaos in central London as casualty on tracks causes severe Tube disruption

Translate

WEST END FINAL

Commuters in central London were thrown into chaos on Wednesday afternoon due to a casualty on the tracks.

The District, Circle, and Hammersmith & City lines were all part suspended from around 5.30pm while emergency services dealt with the customer incident around Cannon Street.

The District line was closed between Tower Hill and Earls Court, while the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines had no service between Edgware Road and Aldgate.

As of 7pm, the lines had all reopened but were operating with severe delays.

Meanwhile, Southeastern mainline National Rail services faced residual crowding and short-notice platform changes due to the ongoing emergency response.

It came amid further Tube chaos on Wednesday, with the Mildmay line severely delayed by a faulty train at Willesden Junction and the Piccadilly line shut all day between Cockfosters and Uxbridge.

The Standard has contacted TfL and BTP for comment.
