AGC to scrutinise CCTV footage, witness evidence in Shuhaily assault probe

The Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) will scrutinise witness statements, CCTV footage and other evidence before deciding what further action should be taken over allegations that Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general Shuhaily Zain assaulted two policemen.
Attorney-General Dusuki Mokhtar said this in a text message, responding to questions about the investigation paper which the police are expected to submit to the AGC today.
“The AGC will examine every aspect of the investigation before any further action can be taken in the case,” he said.
Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Khalid Ismail said police had recorded statements from 25 witnesses, including police and AKPS personnel, Malaysia Airports auxiliary police, baggage handlers, medical officers and members of the public.
Khalid said Bukit Aman’s criminal investigation department was investigating the case under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
The case came to public attention after CCTV footage allegedly showing Shuhaily confronting an individual at KLIA Terminal 1 went viral.
AKPS confirmed the footage was genuine and said the incident occurred while Shuhaily was inspecting preparations at KLIA ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix.
The agency also said its officers had been conducting an operation against foreign touts at the airport.
