KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, was today conferred the Order of Al Hussein Ibn Ali, Jordan's highest civilian honour.

The honour was bestowed by King Abdullah II of Jordan during an investiture ceremony at Dewan Seri Maharaja, Istana Negara, following a one-on-one meeting between Sultan Ibrahim and King Abdullah II at Dewan Seri Negara.

According to the Royal Hashemite Court, the Order of Al Hussein Ibn Ali is awarded to kings, princes and heads of state in recognition of their standing.

The honour is among Jordan's royal medals bestowed on prominent international figures and individuals recognized for their achievements and contributions.

King Abdullah II is on a two-day state visit to Malaysia, which began yesterday, at the invitation of Sultan Ibrahim.
