The Nick Blakey rumours won't go away

It's being reported pretty widely around the traps now that Nick Blakey is currently taking meetings with rival clubs with an eye on an exit out of Sydney. AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey led that reporting yesterday, saying Blakey is still hopeful of finding a trade and is speaking to clubs throughout this week.

The suspended Swans star, who is still involved in a police investigation into the events at the Pullman Hotel, has not yet told Sydney he wants to leave the club but is believed to be assessing his options before he takes that step.

The Swans have been adamant none of the suspended players will be leaving the club, and Blakey still has five years remaining on his contract with the Swans. But there is movement in this story, and more still to play out.

It might be the biggest story of this trade period, and it's one we are watching very closely.

Welcome back to AFL trade period

By Dean Bilton

Good morning footy fans. We're back for day three of this trade period, and after a bit of a slower day yesterday we're expecting things might start to heat up a little today.

There are certainly some big rumblings in the background at the moment, and it remains to be seen if some of those stories fully come to the surface. With a week to go in the trade period (and three days to lodge free agency deals) things will need to start moving!

Stick around and keep me and Chris De Silva company throughout the day, and make sure you hit up the comments with all your thoughts, feelings and questions. Let's get into it again.
