CS Aden Duale Urges Mt Kenya Region To Support DP Kithure Kindiki Ahead of 2027
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has called on residents of Meru and the broader Mt Kenya region to defend Deputy President Kithure Kindiki against political criticism and resist overtures from opposition coalitions ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a public address in the region, Duale argued that the mountain region currently holds significant influence within President William Ruto’s administration and warned against forfeiting its strategic position for unverified political promises.
“Mlima Kenya iko na Deputy President na waziri saba, serikali si ni yenu… Mko na PS kumi na nane… mkubwa wa polisi ni wenu; mkubwa wa jeshi ni wenu, Central Bank governor ni wenu, chairman wa KRA ni wenu; Chief Justice ni wenu, majority leader ni wenu… sasa nawauliza, mko na matunda mkononi, mnaambiwa mtupe hio matunda mtafute ingine…!” Duale stated.
Translating his remarks, Duale emphasized:
The Deputy President comes from this region, and so do 7 Cabinet secretaries, 18 Principal Secretaries, the Chief Justice, the National Assembly Majority Leader, the Central Bank Governor, the KRA Chairman, and security chiefs. Isn’t the government yours?”
Caution Against Opposition Realignment
Invoking the principle that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, the Health CS cautioned voters against abandoning their direct stake in government to pursue speculative alliances offered by opposition figures.
He urged the local leadership and community not to allow Deputy President Kindiki to be undermined, asserting that his position at the apex of executive leadership secures the region’s development priorities.
Intensifying Battle for Mt Kenya Electorate
Duale’s comments come amid escalating political activity across the Mt Kenya voter base, with both government loyalists and opposition figures actively maneuvering to consolidate support ahead of the 2027 polls.
The defense follows recent political friction, during which Deputy President Kindiki has pushed back against critics, urging the electorate to evaluate national leaders based on their tangible track record of development and service delivery.
